T
he Senior Software Engineer is responsible for providing full software lifecycle support, including understanding system requirements, reviewing and recommending designs, conducting solution analysis, validating application deliverables against approved standards, and providing operations and maintenance support. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and possess high-level, current technical expertise across a breadth of technologies and service lines.


The Senior Software Engineer must have 5+ years of professional AWS experience and must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance (dual citizenship not permitted).

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve operations-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitor system logs and alerts to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Investigate and address security vulnerabilities through proactive maintenance.
  • Develop, test, and deploy defect fixes as well as feature enhancements.
  • Set up, configure, and manage AWS environments.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and monitor backend systems.
  • Patch and maintain servers; provide support for Linux servers and infrastructure both on AWS and on-premises.
  • Participate in daily standup meetings to report progress and identify blockers.
  • Perform ad-hoc or task-related changes to backend or frontend systems.
  • Enhance operations and monitoring to improve reliability and uptime.
  • Provide technical leadership across the assigned portfolio of applications.
  • Coordinate required technical reviews to ensure solutions meet established standards; assist with presentations at Technical Review Board (TRB) design meetings.
  • Participate in requirements-gathering sessions to align technical inputs with business needs.
  • Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for complex solutions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, product owners, and other stakeholders to meet project goals.
  • Recommend and implement software upgrades to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Assist with automation, virtualization, and cloud migration projects.
  • Define system specifications, input/output processes, and hardware/software parameters.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of overall IT experience.
  • 5+ years of professional Java experience.
  • 5+ years of professional AWS experience.
  • Strong background in software operations and maintenance.
  • Experience in developing complex IT system solutions (preferred).
  • Demonstrated focus on usability, performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex problems effectively.
  • Consistent on-time attendance and reliability.
  • Availability during normal business hours and as needed after hours or weekends.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Leadership or team management experience preferred.

Technical Skills
  • Core AWS Services including Serverless Architecture (EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, Auto Scaling Groups, SNS, SQS, Load Balancer, Security Manager).
  • Linux Server Administration (RHEL & Amazon Linux 2023).
  • Scripting Languages: Bash, JavaScript, Perl, Java, NodeJS, HTML, CSS, JQuery, XML, JSON.
  • Tools: VSCode and Vi/Vim editors.
  • Databases: MySQL & PostgreSQL.
  • Log Analysis: Splunk.
  • Version Control: Git (GitLab & GitHub).
  • Web Server Administration: Apache.
  • API Testing Tools: Curl and Postman.
  • Tracking Software: ServiceNow.
