This is a fully remote position (U.S.-based), allowing the selected candidate to work from home while supporting a federal regulatory client.

Summary:
The XBRL Solutions Developer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining XBRL taxonomies, instance documents, and reporting solutions in support of digital regulatory finling systems.  This role supports digital reporting initiatives, regulatory compliance requirements, and the automation of structured financial data exchange.

The XBRL Solutions Developer provides full software lifecycle support, including requirements analysis, taxonomy design, data mapping, validation rule development, system integration, and ongoing operations and maintenance.  This position ensures the accuracy, integrity and compliance of XBRL-enabled solutions within a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Design and develop XBRL taxonomies and instance documents using XBRL 2.1 specifications; 
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of intuitive user interfaces for SBRL tagging, mapping, validation, and report rendering/preview features, ensuring accessibility and ease of use for non-technical stakeholders;
  • Develop data-driven XBRL solutions to meet customer or regulatory requirements;
  • Create specifications for XBRL taxonomies, and validation rules;
  • Integrate APIs and third-party XBRL libraries leveraging tools such as Arelle for tagging automation;
  • Design and implement XBRL mapping and export/import functionalities;
  • Work with XML, JSON, and related parsing tools to process and validate structured data;
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and align reporting outputs;
  • Support production deployments, troubleshoot issues, and enhance XBRL-enabled solutions;
  • Document system designs and taxonomy structures;
  • Perform routine software maintenance;
  • Address security vulnerabilities;
  • Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures;
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to customer Information Technology managers;
  • Provide technical leadership on the assigned portfolio of applications;
  • Coordinate various required technical reviews to ensure solutions meet the existing standards.  Assist with presentation at the Technical Review Board (TRB) design meeting;
  • Participate in the requirements gathering sessions to understand business needs, and provide inputs to the technical requirements;
  • Document and demonstrate complex solutions by developing documentation;
  • Work with project manager or product owner to meet project needs;
  • Recommend software upgrades to optimize operational efficiency;
  • Collaborate with other developers to operate, maintain and enhance software systems;
  • Determine system specifications, input/out processes, and working parameters for hardware/software capability;
  • Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting or Finance;
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting and regulatory reporting frameworks;
  • XBRL taxonomy design and development expertise;
  • Proficiency in developing dynamic, responsive frontend components integrated with backend XBRL processing;
  • Proficiency with XML, XML DOM, XSD, JSON, REST/SOAP APIs;
  • Experience with Python, Node.js, JavaScript, .NET Core, Angular/Type script; RedHat Linux, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, GIT GitLab/GitHub;
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and structured data models;
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment;
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and communication skills;
  • Experience in developing complex IT solutions a plus;
  • Previous experience in software development
  • Experience in software operations and maintenance;
  • Focused on usability and performance improvements;
  • Deadline and detail-oriented;
  • Must be self- driven and have the ability to collaborate with in a small distributed team;
  • Must have strong working knowledge of the software lifecycle including the design, development, test & implementation of systems solutions touching on a wide variety of technologies;
  • Knowledge of modern software development frameworks and structured data processing technologies;
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

Salary Range $110,000 - $155,000
